Sermon Notes

Walk Through the Bible: Deliverance!
Part 3 of 3
"By this You Shall Know that I am The Lord
"
Associate Pastor Mike Brown
April 1, 2007

Exodus 4:21
And the LORD said to Moses, "When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the miracles that I have put in your power. But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.

Exodus 5:2
But Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and moreover, I will not let Israel go."

Exodus 9:14-16
For this time I will send all my plagues on you yourself, and on your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. For by now I could have put out my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth. But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.

    1. God does harden Pharaoh’s heart
    2. God is Sovereign

Segment 2

  1. God’s wrath in the Old and New Testaments is clear, we cannot gloss over it
  2. Wrath is not a characteristic of God but a result of God’s holiness; it is not a result of His lack of love
    1. Diminishing God’s wrath diminishes God’s holiness
    2. Diminishing God’s wrath diminishes God’s love
    3. Diminishing God’s wrath diminishes the cross

Segment 3

  1. God is a missionary
  2. He hears the groaning of His creation, He knows our suffering
  3. He will redeem all of creation
  4. He has chosen us to send…
