Our Story...


1988

May - Arvada Covenant Church approved the planting of a new Covenant Church to be located in the northwest Arvada area.

July - The founding pastor, Gary Copeland, was named and the church plant temporarily began operating as Northwest Covenant Fellowship.

July-August - Weekly Friday Night Fellowships held at Arvada West High School. During this time, a group of people interested in being part of the church began to emerge.

August 4 - Christ Community Covenant Church selected for church name.

August 28 - First Sunday morning worship service at Arvada West High School. Attendance: 270.

August-November - Extensive remodeling of leased space at Friendly Square Shopping Center, 64th and Simms. Our first "home."

November 6 - First worship service at 64th and Simms. Attendance: 557. This followed a telemarketing program, "Phones for You," in which 23,783 "dial ups" were made by a large and dedicated volunteer staff.

1989

March - Submitted formal application for membership in the denomination known as The Evangelical Covenant Church.

June 27 - 4Cs officially received into the Evangelical Covenant Church at its annual meeting in Tacoma, Washington. Charter membership: 204.

1991

October - 4Cs purchased 10 acres with buildings at 82nd and Simms, in unincorporated Jefferson County. The facility was built in 1973 for the Colorado Bible Church and the Arvada Christian School, an elementary secondary school.

December 22 - The first worship service in the new building at its present location.

1993

September - Art Greco arrives from Tigard, Oregon as our second pastor.

1995

Fall – Jay Bowman arrives as Associate Pastor/Youth Ministries.

2001

December - Chuck Wysong takes on the role of Senior Pastor.

2002

May - The church sells its present property and buildings to North Jeffco Parks & Rec, and begins the search for new property where a new church facility will be constructed.

2003

January - During a special congressional meeting, approval is given by 94% of members voting for the purchase of the property on the northwest corner of 100th and Wadsworth.

2004

March – Amanda (Ev) Kingry takes the role of Pastor of Youth Ministries ( High Point).

July – Dave Scherrer hired as the Pastor of Adult Ministries.

2005

April – Dave Scherrer assumes the role of interim Sr. Pastor.

2006

March – Dave Scherrer installed as Sr. Pastor.

August – Mike Brown installed as Associate Pastor.

December – Melissa Vogt begins as Children’s Ministry Director.

2007

May – August – Hundreds of youth and adults go on short-term mission trips to downtown Denver, El Salvador, Alaska, and Uganda.

December – Congregation approves Constitutional change to recognize the spiritual offices of Elder and Deacon and to provide for the Council to be a board of Elders.

2008

March – First joint Easter Egg hunt outreach event with Agape Church, from the inner city of Denver, to the local suburban community surrounding 4Cs.

April – June – 4Cs member Scott Moore sent to teach undergraduate courses at Seminario Teológico Centroamericano (SETECA) in Guatemala.
